Teaching English to speakers of other languages or TESOL is the flagship product of the American TESOL institute. The American TESOL Institute or ATI was established in Baton Rouge, LA, USA in 2002. The ATI headquarters are located in Tampa, Florida, Southeast United States. Dr. John May is the President of ATI and Jonathan Lazarus in the Director. The desire to know how a second language is learnt led to the establishment of the American TESOL institute or ATI.
TESOL, an internationally accredited teachers training program, has garnered immense popularity across the globe. The fundamentals and focus of the TEFL program help in preparing the ESL teachers with an extra edge. TESOL instills in the teachers the special techniques of teaching the basic language skills viz. reading, writing, listening, speaking. All the possible aspects of classroom teaching and student handling are incorporated in the teaching orientation.
Years of research and inputs from experiences in Asia helped to develop American TESOL Institute’s TESOL program. Combined with this knowledge was the strong determination to re-structure the TESOL/TEFL methods in US. This was the beginning and has led to ATI’s standard TESOL online and in-class education and job placement system.
There is a high demand for American ESL teachers in Central America, Western and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Asia. In fact, Thailand has a requirement for half-million English speakers for 2008-09 to meet their ever growing demand for native English speakers. In order to meet these ATI has rolled out ongoing TEFL programs, Special Projects in class or online. These programs provide an excellent platform for adults to teach English while traveling, working or living abroad.
Since its inception in 2002 the ATI has been training students to teach English abroad. American TESOL institute provides a plethora of courses and programs to suit the learning needs of the students. ATI boasts a professional series of educational quality control mechanisms that ensures that ESL trained teachers are of the highest standard.
