I was attracted to the idea of teaching abroad for a shorter time than the standard year long contracts. Having just graduated college, an opportunity like this seemed like a good experience to take up prior to beginning a career at home. Also, I had traveled to Thailand before, and found the country to be very beautiful.

I chose this project because I have traveled to Thailand many times and really love it here. I have taught in other places in Asia and wanted to get a chance to learn more about the culture of Thailand. Also, I think the short contract was appealing, as it gives a good amount of time to decide whether or not the school is a good fit, without looking me into something long learn. Although I have taught ESL previously, this course gave me the chance to learn the specifics of teaching ESL in Thailand.

That being said, a TESOL certificate is a great asset in addition to my qualification, the American TESOL institute special Thai project is a good opportunity to get TESOL certification, get a flavor of the culture and lifestyle in Thailand and travel while meeting many new people.
